In the Brazilian domestic market, the August monomer contract prices were set to go up following the split settlement in contract prices for the US. Three producers settled up 5 cents/lb and another producer settled up 11 cents/lb for August. Usually Brazilian butadiene contract prices follow closely the USCG contract price movements. “Next week we are going to have a better view of where the Brazilian contract prices for butadiene are going to be,” said a company source. In July, Brazilian butadiene contract prices climbed 15% over June and were around $3,800/mt FOB. Steam crackers in Brazil were reported working regularly without any technical problems this week.
