Bearish sentiment spread quickly across the market as Western crude oil futures plummeted. The CFR Southeast Asia value dropped $23/mt on week to be assessed at $1,401/mt Wednesday. At 4:30 PM Singapore time (0830 GMT) Wednesday, NYMEX September crude oil futures were pegged at $81.60/barrel, having plunged $11.79/b from $93.39/b last Wednesday. The LLDPE market also came under pressure from bearish LLDPE futures in China. September futures traded on the Dalian Commodity Exchange were down Yuan 1,095/mt ($170/mt) week on week to Yuan 10,340/mt Wednesday, from Yuan 11,435/mt last week.
