European high density contract prices fell for the first time ineight months, tracking a fall in the June ethylene contractprice. HDPE injection grade prices have risen by Eur340/mtbetween October 2010 and May 2011 on the back of tightEuropean supply. HDPE contract prices held steady in Maydespite a drop in both LDPE and LLDPE contracts with supplystill a key issue due to production issues in Europe as well asswing plants opting for LLDPE production in both Europe andthe Middle East. In June, producers were looking to cap anyprice decline at Eur20/mt on all HDPE grades, while converterswere targeting a decrease of Eur30-50/mt.
