In Mexico, Pemex Petroquimica was expected to be net short until it completes and expansion at its plant in Minatitlan, Mexico. However, a source at Pemex said on Friday that they did not know when the expansion would be completed and the company was importing 3,500 mt of PGP from Houston at the end of August and possibly another 3,500 mt of PCG in September. The source said the expansion would raise the propylene capacity at Minatitlan to 10K mt/month with Pemex's internal requirements being 6,000 mt/month for production of acrylonitrile.
