Asian acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene prices continued togain this week but producers remain concerned about weakprofit margins. Prices were assessed up $40/mt week on weekat $2,145/mt CFR China Wednesday and $45/mt higher at$2,165/mt CFR Southeast Asia. The price move wassupported by further cuts in producers’ operating rates.Chinese producer Tianjin Dagu Sunday shut its 200,000mt/year plant due to poor demand and technical issues. Arestart is expected before the end of August, a companysource said, adding, however, that current market conditionswould not prevent the opening of a second 200,000/mt ABSplant at the same site in August.
