LLDPE export prices were up about 0.5 cents/lb to 53 cents/lb FAS Houston, but there was additional upward pressure on the market as export supply was tight. Traders said the export market was quiet but they expected higher prices from South America and US producers. South America is net short LLDPE and would need to import from the US, but unless Braskem raises its prices, the upside to the export market would be limited. There was talk the Brazilian producer would raise offers across South America, but depending on how much offers increase, US LLDPE may still not be competitive.
