An initial September NWE monoethylene glycol contract price was settled at Eur791/mt ($1,015/mt) FD NWE this week—an increase of Eur36/mt FD versus the August CP of Eur755/mt, according to sources Thursday. The initial fixture was confirmed by Lithuanian consumer Neogroup, which claimed the counter party as BASF—although the latter could not be contacted at time of press. “The increase was based on Asian movements and the euro/dollar exchange rate. We want to be competitive with Asian PET producers,” the consumer said.
