NWE converters were willing to accept increases in September contracts of no more than Eur40/mt above August according to feedback this week. This was in response to September targets ranging from Eur50/mt [for GPPS] and Eur65/mt [for HIPS], to Eur85/mt posted by producers. Consumers had expected to see increases above the September SM CPs, which settled at an average of Eur1, 010/mt FD NWE, a rise of around Eur30-40/mt. One consumer said it would try to resist increases of Eur50/mt. “My expectation is that I would take a Eur40/mt increase. [A net CP of] Eur1,240/mt FD NWE is where I think it will end [for medium-sized consumption CPs of 5-30 kt/year]. A producer countered that it would pursue an increase of Eur50-55/mt in September GPCP levels.
