As upward pressure from feedstock ethylene prices continued, US EDC export prices rose $10 this week. The 3-30 day assessment price was at $445/mt FOB USG. Despite demand from China was healthy last week for March cargoes, limited buy interest was reported this week on the back of concerns that the Chinese government will restrict EDC imports from April 1. Chinese authorities have been researching on possible environmental impact from EDC production. Upstream, spot ethylene traded Thursday at 53.25 cents/lb and the March market hung around that level.
