The PET market was again being propelled upwards by firm feedstock pricing and availability issues. The NWE March paraxylene contract price has now fully settled at Eur1,270/mt (1,766/mt), an increase of Eur40/mt from February, as consumer BP became the second consumer to follow last week's initial settlement. In purified terephthalic acid, the short supply situation which has dented resin production was expected to ease next week with the planned restart of BP's No.3 PTA plant at Geel in Belgium. The plant was shut down for repairs on February 26.
