PTA feedstock paraxylene fully settled its August contract price for August at Eur1,120/mt ($1,593/mt) FD NWE, an increase of Eur95/mt compared with the July settlement. The settlement is in line with market expectations of a Eur100/mt increase in the August contract price, based on higher values in Asia on both the contract price and the spot market and also higher spot values in Europe. In downstream news, Indian/UAE joint venture JBF RAK LLC will build and operate a new 390,000 mt/year PET plant in Geel, Belgium, BP said Thursday. The new PET plant will be located adjacent to BP’s two purified terephthalic acid plants at the Geel site, which have a combined capacity of 1.35 million mt/year, a statement said.
