EDC: Following the previous weeks $20/mt increase in spot levels, the market stabilized this week with the Easter vacation period meaning activity thinned. Upstream, sources said any settlement for the Q2 caustic soda contract price was likely to be somewhat lower than the highest producer nominations of Eur80/mt as market sources reported resistance to any significant price rise. A distributor felt that Q2 would settle up by between Eur10-20/mt, dismissing suggestions that expected shutdowns in April and May should bring prices up.
