The US polystyrene price was assessed a few cents higher this week as continued strength in the ethylene spot market kept styrene spot prices high. The general purpose price was talked in the mid- to upper 70s cents/lb. High-impact polystyrene prices were talked at a 4- to 6-cent premium over the general purpose price. The prices were expected to move even higher in two weeks, with two producers heard nominating a 5-cent increase on high-impact material effective May 1. The general purpose price was heard nominated 4 cents higher.
