EDC: Prices basis CFR Far East Asia rose $24/mt on week Thursday, driven by strong demand for non-vinyls producers. Some end-users were interested in buying spot EDC at $470/mt CFR China for September for solvent purposes, while selling indications were reported at $500/mt CFR China. But EDC end-users for vinyls production were still seeking cargoes in the low-$400s/mt CFR FEA. End-users for vinyls were awaiting an influx of deep-sea materials from the US and Brazil as an arbitrage window is currently open because of falling EDC freight costs from the Americas to Asia. The price increase in Southeast Asia, meanwhile, was limited at $15/mt on week Thursday as most buys in the region were for vinyls production. VCM: The Asian vinyl chloride monomer market firmed this week, lifted by bullish downstream PVC prices.
