Spot polypropylene prices in Northwest Europe fell marginally by Eur5/mt to Eur1,195-1,200/mt FD NWE this week as caution over easing energy prices dampened buy interest. Most trading sources said they would prefer to hold stock ahead of the September contract price settlement for feedstock propylene next week. Consumers were not in a rush to get material and sellers would rather wait for a clear indication on feedstock pricing, sources said, adding that the volatility in energy values prompted them to stay on the sidelines. “The market is balanced. Nothing has moved much. Both demand and supply are okay,” a trader said, adding he was not willing to sell below Eur1,200/mt FD NWE for homo injection grade.
