NWE spot acrylonitrile prices were talked modestly higher this week, though with buying interest remained subdued as most consumers were sufficiently covered by contractual volumes. No deals were heard done this week. “There’s simply no spot buying in the market,” a trader said. A consumer said he was fully covered after buying 2.5kt last week at $1,890/mt CIF Med, while a fiber producer said he was willing to pay up to $1,900/mt CIF Med for 4kt. A trader said $1,890-1,900/mt CIF Med was a “fair range for the time being”, with imported cargo still not an attractive option for European buyers. He heard offers at $1,850-1,870/mt FOB South America arriving early Oct.
