PET prices rose from anticipated higher raw material costs. Import offers were talked at and over 63 cents/lb DDP West Coast for delivery in September. Deals, however, were scarce as domestic prices were more competitive than importing spot material. Domestic prices in August were at 59-60 cents/lb delivered. Producers have issued a 3 cents/lb price hike for September but how much passes was dependent on how much raw materials actually climb this month. The PX contract was not settled but since the Asia CP went up $60/mt, several participants believed this would be matched by a similar increase in the US.
