Asian styrene monomer rose for the second day in a row, buoyed by a firmer energy complex and higher main feedstock benzene prices. With November NYMEX crude futures up $0.66/barrel at $75.86/b and benzene prices firming by $4/mt at $848.50/mt FOB Korea, the SM FOB Korea benchmark rose $5/mt to settle at $1,112.50/mt, while the CFR China benchmark gained $6/mt to rest at $1,142/mt. On the week, however, the benchmarks parted ways. The FOB Korea benchmark was down 0.48% or $5/mt, while the CFR China benchmark edged up a nominal 0.17.5%, or $2/mt.
