EU eying infrastructure security steps in wake of London terror bombing

European Union states are to agree on a program to guard energy and other critical infrastructure by the end of this year,ministers said after an emergency meeting of the justice and home affairs council late July 13.The meeting was prompted by the July 7 London terror bombings but the process started in June 2004 when EU heads of state asked the European Commission for an overall infrastructure security strategy.They adopted the resulting Hague program in June 2005.
