Sydney-Chevron's trumping of CNOOC in the battle for Unocal would have no impact on the negotiations over LNG sales to China from the Chevron-operated Gorgon project off Western Australia,a Chevron spokesman said Aug 4.The battle for Unocal was "unrelated" to the protracted talks between Chevron and CNOOC over their proposed sales and equity agreement,he said."We've been having ongoing confidential discussions with CNOOC since 2003," the spokesman said."We remain committed to supplying Gorgon LNG into China and CNOOC have been committed to becoming a participant in the 40 Tcf [gas resource]."
