Unocal president and COO Tim Ling,46,died of natural causes the afternoon of Jan 28 while at a sports complex near his office in El Segundo,California,Unocal spokesman Barry Lane said Jan 29.Ling played ice hockey "but it is unclear whether it (Ling's death) was sports related," Lane said."He went over there regularly," he added.Unocal chairman and CEO Charles Williamson immediately assumed Ling's positions on an interim basis.'Tim Ling was a brilliant executive with boundless energy and enthusiasm," Williamson said."He lived every moment with gusto."
