US court says BP must restrict tanker traffic at Washington refinery

A federal court has ruled a dock extension at BP's Cherry Point,Washington,refinery was built without the necessary environmental impact statement and directed a lower court to freeze tanker traffic to and from the refinery at pre-2000 levels until the EIS is prepared.The decision will have no immediate effect on the refinery and its future impact is unclear.BP has 60 days to appeal the decision and once the case is returned to the district court,the lower court will first have to determine pre-2000 tanker traffic levels.
