Vying for Atlantis, Transocean sues GlobalSantaFe

Big offshore driller Transocean has accused competitor GlobalSantaFe of breaking its patents in a bid for work on one of the Gulf of Mexico's biggest upcoming development projects, the BP-operated Atlantis. In a lawsuit filed July 28, Transocean alleges GSF bid in June for work on the estimated 500-mil boe Atlantis deepwater project with one of two US285-mil ultra-deepwater semisubmersible rigs being built for it in Singapore.
