Market ponders source of contaminated fuel oil

Houston-Polypropylene and polyethylene particles discovered earlier this week in residual fuel oil barrels in the US Gulf Coast and Atlantic Coast are believed to have originated in Western Europe, market sources said Wednesday. The contamination has been attributed to the result of blends made with Russian M100 cargoes-some of which may have been purchased by Venezuela-that began arriving in the USGC and USAC in late March.
