Buoyed by high prices and roughly 30% more production, US upstream independents Pogo Producing and XTO Energy kicked off the first quarter earnings season Apr 22 with stellar profits. Oil-weighted Gulf of Mexico and Gulf of THailand producer Pogo turned in exceptionally storng net of us88.5-mil or us1.45/share, almost 10 times its year=ago results, as revenues more than doubled to us311-mil.
