For natural gas to start flowing before 2010 from the Mackenzie Delta, hopes are now riding on a winter of exploration success and an early resolution of complex pipeline issues. While operators are ready to launch the Canadian Arctic's busiest drilling season in at least 20 years, make-or-break negotiations are taking place on the role of aboriginals in a proposed CUS3-bil (US1.95-bil) pipeline along the Mackenzie Valley.
