The role of Singapore as the hub for oil trading continues to grow despite an economic slowdown in the island state, and poor economic performance elswhere. According to data gathered by Platts, trading of some energy commodities more than doubled in the first-half of 2001, amid a contraction in the refining rates by major oil companies.
