Shell has begun to repay the 300,000 bbl of Strategic Petroleum Reserve crude it borrowed last week to help cover a shortfall caused by Hurricane Lili, the US Department of Energy said Monday. T He first 100,000 bbl of the returned crude has gone to Placid Refining in Port Allen, Louisiana, because the SPR oil sent to Shell displaced oil in a connecting pipeline that serves the plant, DOE said in a statement, adding it will receive a comparable grade of replacement oil within 60 days.
