US scrap lead-battery prices continuedtheir steady climb this week, as sourcespointed almost unanimously to a markedtightening in available lead-scrap supply.The Platts price assessment for scrap50% lead, starter-lighter, ignition batteries,picked up Midwest, rose to 30-32 cent/lb,picked-up basis, on April 12 from k’s 29.5-31.5cents on April 5, while the Northeastassessment rose to 31-32 cents/lb, pickedup, from 30.5-31.5 cents.
