摘要

Five major trade unions have joined those putting pressure on the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to speed its environmental review of the proposed 713-mile Rover Pipeline, a major project to move Appalachian gas to Midwest markets that would dramatically alter regional flow dynamics. Led by the Laborers’ International Union of North America, and representing more than 3 million members, the unions have asked FERC to rethink its schedule released this fall for the review and instead approve a certificate by mid-2016. “We have great concern that FERC’s protracted review of this project will leave thousands of our members — who have been trained specifically with the Rover project in mind — without work and in search of other high-paying, shovel-ready jobs this spring,” said the letter, posted on FERC’s website December 23.
