FERC approves 34-mile Sunbury pipeline that will deliver Marcellus gas to Pa. plant

The Sunbury Pipeline Project, which will move about 200 MMcf/d of Marcellus gas from interstate pipelines to a new power plant and local gas distribution in northeastern Pennsylvania by February 2017, was granted a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission certificate approving the project on April 29. Approval of the 34-mile, 20-inch diameter greenfield project was about four months later than the company had requested. However, there have not been any updates to the project’s timeline. Information on the construction schedule and anticipated in-service date will likely become available in the coming weeks as Sunbury moves forward with an implementation plan.
