Natural gas stocks in storage grow by 29 Bcf to 3.317 Tcf: EIA

The weekly change to gas in storage reversed back to a build after last week’s announcement of a very rare withdrawal during the heart of injection season proved to be a short-lived phenomenon. US gas stocks increased 29 Bcf to 3.317 Tcf in the week ended August 5, the US Energy Information Administration reported Thursday. The net injection was more than a Platts’ survey of analysts expecting a 25-Bcf injection. It was the first time in the past four weeks the market underestimated the size of the build. However, the injection was still 46% less than normal for this time of year. In the corresponding week last year the EIA reported a 57-Bcf injection, while the five-year average is a 53-Bcf injection.
