Public offerings raise $139.4 billion in 2015 through debt, stock issues

The amount of capital raised through public offerings of debt and common stock by US energy companies totaled $139.4 billion in 2015, a bit smaller compared to the $144.6 billion in 2014, yet still higher than $127.3 billion in 2013, according to S&P Capital IQ data. Out of the combined amount of $139.4 billion, common stock offerings raised $26.8 billion, lower by 32% than 2014, and debt fetched $112.5 billion, or higher by 7% than the prior year, said Cap IQ, like Platts a unit of McGraw Hill Financial.
