Consol to resume drilling in Appalachian region, adding back two horizontal wells

Appalachian gas producer Consol plans to resume drilling operations in the Marcellus and Utica Shale plays in the second half of the year, company officials said in their second-quarter earnings conference call on July 26. Consol will add back two horizontal rigs to resume drilling next month, the officials said. The company expects to drill eight dry Utica Shale wells in Monroe County, Ohio, where Consol maintains a 100% working interest, and two Marcellus Shale wells in Washington County, Pennsylvania, which fall within a joint venture in which Consol maintains a 50% working interest.
