Montney producers 'hunkering down' to wait out storm of low gas prices

Several major producers in the Montney Shale in Western Canada are scaling back on natural gas drilling as spot prices at AECO-NIT in Alberta hover at some of their lowest levels in 10 years. The pullback, however, will likely be short-lived as the liquids-rich areas in the play offer a strong incentive to producers as they wait out the low price maelstrom, but still pull out a fair amount of associated gas in the process, analysts say.
