Q3 gold demand weak; net surplus highest in 11 years: GFMS

Physical gold demand fell 30%year-on-year in the third quarter to 767 mt,hindered by sharply higher prices in July inthe aftermath of the UK’s vote to quit the EU,GFMS Thomson Reuters said on October 27.Although up 8.3% from 708 mt in thesecond quarter, physical demand has beensubdued all year, with total demand for thefirst nine months of 2016 down 26% on thesame period last year at 2,238 mt.
