Analysts adjust outlooks as Alberta mulls rollback of royalty increases

Spurred by strong indications that the Alberta government is on the verge of rolling back some or all of its controversial 20% royalty increases and possibly offering incentives to kick-start shale gas development in the province, forecasters are already adjusting their gas well predictions for 2010. The government expects to take action later this month on the results of an internal probe comparing its royalties and taxes with the neighboring provinces of British Columbia and Saskatchewan, as well as US states.
