The Plantation industry in Karnataka is responsible for the development of the Economy in the Malnad region of theState by providing employment to thousands of people in various categories of employment, providing business to various business concerns and enriching the Ecology, Biodiversity and preserving the Flora and Fauna in the region. Over the years the contribution of the plantation sector to the central exchequer by way of foreign exchange earnings has been substantial.
