MONSOON DAMAGE IN NILGIRIS

During the current year, the Northeast monsoon was heavy and vigorous in all the agro climatic zones of the Nilgiris. The heavy and torrential rains between 8th to 10th November 2009 has caused severe damage in several places in the District. There has been heavy damage to culverts, drains, houses, tea fields, roads, etc. Large section of the population has been rendered homeless and there was loss of lives. There has been no communication from the estates.
