Introduction to a Different Concept of Heating Air for Drying

Drying of any substance is that operation by which water or moisture present on the surface as well as inside the body of a material is removed. This removal is done by first converting the water into a gaseous form such as steam or water-vapour and then conveying away this gas physically by means of a carrier gas such as air. While conversion of the water inside the material to be dried into steam can be done directly by means of electromagnetic radiation such as micro-wave or radio frequency waves,conversion into water-vapour is done by heated air or any other carrier gas.
