Evaluation of fungicides for curative control of dollar spot in creeping bentgrass greens, 2014

This study was conducted at The Ohio State University Turfgrass Research Center in Columbus, OH on a USGA style creeping bentgrass green established in 2006. Mowing height was 0.171-in. with clippings removed, and the area was irrigated as needed. Thecondition of the sward was good with fair color, minimal thatch and good density. Fertilizer applications consisted of 1.0 lb N/1000 sq ft on 1 Apr using Andersons 20-3-8 fertilizer. The root zone material was a Crosby B silt loam, pH 7.3. Treatment plots measured 6 ft x 5 ft with 0.5 ft alleys between plots, and 1.5 ft between blocks, and were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications. All treatments were applied curatively on 16 May and every 14-d thereafter until 22 Aug.Applications were made with a hand-held, CO2-powered boom sprayer using 6503 TeeJet nozzles at a pressure of 40 psi, (water equivalent to 2.0 gal water/1000 sq ft) for all treatments. Visual counting of dollar spot infection centers were taken weekly starting 16 May. Data was transformed by arcsine square root (y) and analyzed using analysis of variance. Means comparison was performed with Tukey's HSD (Honestly Significant Difference) Test (a=0.05).
