On 13 Oct 08, strawberry runner plants from Canada were transplanted into methyl bromide:chloropicrin (50:50) fumigated soil in plastic-mulched, raised beds. Transplants were irrigated by overhead sprinklers for 10 days to aid establishment, then irrigated and fertilized through drip tape. The beds were 28-in. wide on 4-ft centers. Each bed contained two staggered rows of plants spaced 15-in. apart within rows and 12-in. between rows. Treatments were randomized in four blocks, each in a separate bed.Fungicide applications were made weekly from 19 Dec to 24 Mar (15 applications) using a CO2 backpack sprayer calibrated to deliver 100 gal/A at 50 psi through two TeeJet disc-core hollow cone nozzles spaced 12 in. apart on the boom. Experimental products were applied alone, in tank mixes, or in blocking programs with other products. Fruit were harvested twice weekly from 13 Jan through 3 Apr (24 harvests). Marketable fruit were counted and weighed to determine yield. Small fruit weighing less than 10 g, anthracnose and Botrytis-diseased fruit, and other unmarketable fruit were also counted. Fruit disease incidence was expressed as a percentage of the total number of marketable and unmarketable fruit. Angular leaf spot (ALS) severity was determined onsix central plants per plot after the final harvest. The number of leaves killed or partially blighted by ALS was expressed as a percentage of the total number of leaves for each plant. Values were averaged for the six plants in each plot. Non-transformed data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA (P = 0.05) in SAS (SAS Institute, Inc. Cary, NC).
