Fungal association with typical black point infected wheat seeds was detected through moist blotter and agar plate techniques. Of these, agar plate technique proved best for growth and spore formation by the fungus. Among various fungi associated withseeds, the Alternaria alternata was found predominant over other fungi. Forty wheat genotypes comprised of 20 each of aestivum and durum group were screened against black point disease under field conditions. The aestivum group was found to so more susceptible with 14.50 per cent black point disease than durum which showed only 7.70 per cent disease.
