A field trial was conducted at the Texas Tech University Quaker Research farm located in Lubbock, TX. The soil was a Brownfield sandy clay loam that had no history of seedling disease. Plots were planted 12-May. To increase disease pressure, plots were artificially infested with ground oat seed colonized by Rhizoctonia solani (3 grams per seed packet). Plots (two 40-in rows by 35.5 ft) were arranged in a split-plot design with four replications. Whole plot treatments consisted of seed treatment, andinoculation served as sub-plots. Temik 15G (3.5 lb/A) was applied at planting for insect control. All other production practices followed Texas AgriLife Extension Service recommendations. Stand counts were recorded on 14, 21, and 28 days after planting (DAP). Vigor ratings were made 35 DAP. Plots were harvested 5-Nov. Data were analyzed using the ANOVA procedure of SAS, and means were separated using Fisher’s protected LSD (P<0.05).
