Hydrocracking Technology Extracts More Value from Low-Quality Feedstocks

Conventional hy-drocracking technologies have a difficult time handling low-quality feedstocks that are rich with undesirable asphaltene molecules(e.g.,heavy oil,bottom of the barrel and oil sands bitumen).This is mainly due to its use of supported catalysts,which depend on active sites located within the many channels of the support material.The channels often get clogged by the asphaltene molecules,thereby deactivating the catalyst.
