EASTMAN LAUNCHES NEW DCM-FREE SOLUTION FOR PAINT STRIPPER FORMULATORS IN THE EU

Eastman Chemical Company launches Eastman~(?) n-butyl propionate for use in the formulation of dichloromethane (DCM)-free paint-strippers in the European Union (EU). Eastman~(TM) n-butyl propionate is fully compliant with new requirements under EU legislation restricting the use of paint strippers containing DCM and possesses a low Risk Characterization Ratio value, commonly used to determine potential impacts on human health. Eastman~(TM)n-butyl propionate enhances the performance of paint-stripper formulations and shows very good synergistic effect with commonly used "active" solvents such as dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO) or 1-ethyl-2-pyrrolidone (NEP).
