American business is paying more attention than ever to the intersection of politics and economics. The Sept 11 terrorist attacks proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Fortress America" was a myth and that evildoers half a world away can cause death and wanton destruction, bring industries to their knees, cause financial markets to close, suck government and private budgets dry and cause widespread joblessness and human misery. It appears the terrorists' ultimate goal is to reduce the whole of the globe to a Third World existence.
