Silver Nanowires - a Promising Technology

Silver nanowires are one of the most promising candidates to obtain a maximum of effectivity with respect to the functionalization of a material or a product with a minimum of material consumption. Resulting from their geometrical structure, a percolating and thus conductive network can be obtained with a minimum amount of silver nanowires. The combination of high conductivity and good transparency is suitable on the one hand to renew and improve plenty of existing applications and on the other hand to open a broad field of new applications. Amongst others, examples of such applications are transparent and conductive coatings and inks, transparent resins and adhesives, transparent heating elements, and electrically conductive synthetic or polymeric materials, yarns and fibers. In the present contribution we demonstrate the huge potential of silver nanowires and highlight the most promising applications.
