Tighter emissions regulations and the upcoming PC-9 regulations place even greater challenges on mining and construction fleets seeking to extend oil-drain intervals, says Exxon SmartLube coordinator and engine oil expert, Don Carver. Changes to improve soot-handling capability, detergency and thermal stability of engine oils for on-highway emissions requirements improve the drain interval capability of oils for off-highway applications, Carver points out."ExxonMobil has invested strongly, and will continue to invest strongly, in lubrication technology to deliver high-performance, longer-life engine oils that help our off-highway customers optimize oil drain intervals without sacrificing engine durability," notes Carver.
