Sand, gravel operation pays reduced penalty of 8,000 dollars in fatality case

A sand and gravel operation has agreed to pay the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) a civil penalty reduced from 23,500 dollars to 8,000 dollars to settle a case in which an electrical contractor was killed while working on an energized electrical panel. Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission Judge Richard Manning approved the settlement agreement between Hard Rock Inc. and the agency in a Nov. 7 decision.
